PETE ROQUE
DIRECTOR OF CODE ENFORCEMENT - 4LEAF INC.
Hi, and thank you for visiting Code Enforcement Educators.
Usually, I do not particularly enjoy talking about myself. Still, as professions evolve, a personal website or about page has quickly become a norm so I am keeping up with the times. I have prepared a little information about myself in hopes that you can get to know me a little better. and why this site was created.
My name is Pete Roque, and I am currently the Code Enforcement Director for 4LEAF Inc. I have over a decade in the Code Enforcement Industry and can admit I fell in love with it the first day I walked into the code enforcement office. I can tell you that I still love going to work every day and work towards making that the goal of every officer that does our job. I have learned that having purpose and a servant leadership mentality takes us from good to exceptional.
I've had the honor to serve in a managerial capacity for most of my time in Code Enforcement throughout several jurisdictions and always found it challenging to leave great teams. With new opportunities come new challenges. My dedication to Code Enforcement and the opportunites I've taken have allowed me to build great relationships over the years. I learned so much in every new journey.
I have served on local, regional, state, and national boards to promote Code Enforcement in the United States and have a passion for promoting the importance of Code Enforcement. Along the way, I have built many great networks and professional relationships, allowing me to learn new industry trends and enforcement tools. These networks have allowed me to incorporate them into our enforcement tools successfully. I built this site for those that need guidance at this very moment or would like to learn some of the items I have learned along the way.
As an active promoter of our profession, I took the time to create Code Enforcement Educators. Code Enforcement Experts is a free website dedicated to assisting the public and Code Enforcement Officers. This site will allow officers the ability to obtain and learn general principles and up-to-date news. Additionally, the goal of this site is to share educational materials with fellow code professionals.
I and many others have dedicated much time to create an accessible platform for all our code enforcement colleagues to utilize. As a result, we can proudly report that we have become the most prominent Code Enforcement dedicated Facebook page to date.
On a personal note, I also have the honor to serve as an adjunct professor at Santiago Canyon College (SCC). SCC is the first college to offer an Associates' Degree in Code Enforcement in California. I have also taught courses for law enforcement professionals and organizations such as the Department of Housing and Urban Development, Environmental Protection Agency, Federal Bureau of Investigations, International Code Council (ICC), California League of Cities, California Healthy Housing Coalition, California Association of Code Enforcement Officers, Standards and Codes Academy, and the American Association of Code Enforcement Officers.
As a manager, I tripled our staffing size with grants, internships, volunteers, contract employees, and creating efficiencies to serve the public. With executive management and council support, we developed or improved enforcement programs to address outstanding issues in our community. Many of our Code Enforcement programs were featured in national events. Many of those teams continue to set benchmarks and set industry standards. My goal is to share that experience with those that want to learn.
I currently also had the opportunity to teach at ICC local and regional chapters and have taught at Educode for multiple years. In addition, I am currently working on the ICC Technical Trade Program to assist high-school and college students start a career pathway into our profession.
